Support Services/NT Admin
Houston,
Texas, USA
February
2001 - July 2001
I
provided software and hardware support to approximately 800 local end users and
2000 RAS/VPN users directly through a second level helpdesk system and
indirectly through projects to upgrade or optimize the network on an NT
platform. I set up new desktops and laptops using the image process or from the
ground up. I set up RAS and/or VPN access. I migrated all user data from the
old machines to the new machines. I dealt with Token Ring and Ethernet
connectivity issues from the end user up to the switches. I also created and
worked with disk and partition images using Ghost software for desktops and
laptops. I added/removed computer names and worked with user’s NT and Exchange
accounts on the domain as needed by checking and resetting account information
including passwords and user drive locations. I provided assistance with moves
and migrations of users and network printers including changing IP addresses
and print server queue names and addresses. I assisted fellow technicians with
hard to handle software and hardware situations.

Self-educated
Since
1985 the field of computers has been my hobby. I have always been curious about
the hardware and software and what makes things happen with computers. I
started off with a Commodore 64 and now I have a dozen networked computers at
home in a lab environment with servers and workstations and multiple platforms
including Windows, Macintosh and Linux.
